What Vasht draws on (descending from Persian court dance) in its choreographies appears to represent the classical tradition which has thus far not been very widely seen or shared with current-day world audiences. I find in these works a remarkable quality. As Vasht prepares a new season of work, we have much to look forward to! From what I’ve seen of there work, one is especially impressed by the airy, ethereal, dreamy soul-qualities of Persian dance esthetic, by the nuanced style of hand and arm movements, and the overall lyrical flow, and by the strong sense of a rigorous classical form and vocabulary keyed to a distinctive high note. I would presume to auger wonderful experiences in store for Vasht’s audiences. Vasht is a breath of fresh air on the dance scene.
